Take a stroll down Madison Street and see if you can spot our decorated cicada sculpture amongst the trees! It's hanging out near the north west corner of Madison and Circle.

Cicada Parade-a 2024
Cicada Parade-a is a collaborative art project organized by The Insect Asylum and Formstone Castle Collective, displayed in and around Chicago from May through summer 2024. It celebrates the rare re-emergence of Broods XIII and XIX, Illinois' 17-year and 13-year cicada broods. Handcrafted plaster cicada sculptures, decorated by the community, will be displayed across the state to encourage exploration and connection. Proceeds will support the creation of a community rooftop garden, promoting community growth and ecosystem protection.

Eat them, if you dare!
"They do have a nutty flavor and a nice crunch when sautéed in olive oil with a few seasonings tossed in for good measure. Old Bay seasoning is always a winner," he said. The ice cream treat of the summer!
According to Toby’s Instagram, Cicada Sundaes are made of one scoop each of chocolate, bittersweet chocolate, and cafe au lait ice cream, topped with chocolate sprinkles, 2 red M&M eyes, and waffle cone wings. They also caution that you should “consume it before it consumes you!” so I wanted to be sure to get that important warning in.
